What happens
Charges stop
The account drops to free Dropbox Basic at the end of the current billing cycle. No further charges.
Refund
The page describes no refund for the current period. For a billing error, Dropbox points you to its support options.
Instead
If you cannot cancel online, Dropbox accepts a cancellation letter by post (P.O. Box 77767, San Francisco, CA 94107 for the US, Canada and Mexico). Charges that land before the letter is processed are not refunded.
The catch
Basic gives you only 2 GB. Over that, you may not be able to sync, upload, share, move or preview files, and Dropbox may delete files you own to get back under the limit.
Deleting the app does NOT cancel the plan or delete the account.
Letting the card expire does not cancel either. Your bank may move the payment to your new card.
No Cancel plan button? You probably bought Dropbox in a phone app store. Cancel there instead.
Check it worked: an email titled 'Dropbox Plan will not renew', and a 'Plan downgrade scheduled' notice on the Billing tab.
Family and team plans cancel a different way. Cancelling is not the same as deleting your account.
